MacChange Version 2.0 Copyright © 1992 Gary Drury.
Introduction
-----------
Have you ever got fed up with having text files being opened with
TeachText all the time, or files not opening because the Finder ™ can't
find an application to open them ? I always got a lot of files through the
Internet and got fed with them being opened with TeachText, so MacChange
is the solution I came up with.
So, how do you use it ?
--------------------
Very simply. Just open the files you want to change with MacChange. It
will show you the current creator and file type and then ask you for a new
set. Just type in a new 4 character code for each and then click OK.
The file will be updated to reflect the changes.
Features
--------
• Supports all the required System 7 features such as Drag-and-drop
and AppleEvents, and 32-bit clean ( I think it is anyway !! )
• MacChange wiil automatically quit after converting files dropped onto
it from the Finder™
• Small!! This application is only about 20k in size and uses about 80k of
memory. With many of todays applications being over 1M in size
I think MacChange does a pretty good job for all its 20K.
• Accepts folders being dropped onto it so you can now change lots of
files at once. It will change all the files in all subdirectories
as well
• Gives you the choice of resolving aliases if they have been dropped
onto MacChange. It can take a while to resolve aliases, especially
if they are on a file server. If you open files from inside MacChange
using the menus then the aliases are resolved automatically, one of
the beauties ( or horrors ) of System Software 7.0.
Requirements
------------
• System Software 7.0 or later.
• Tested on a Mac Plus, SE and Powerbook (24-bit and 32-bit modes) all
with a variety of extensions and control panels without problem.
Technical Stuff
--------------
• Written using THINK Pascal 4.0.1, amazing stuff since everyone reckons
that C is the way to go !!!
• Doesn't actually open the files so there should be no problems with files
left open.
Version History
